Every day a play day!

Check this out and join in!

The Goal: Celebrate outdoor play!

Why? Getting kids outside in the cold and wet weather can be a challenge. Doctors and teachers agree that kids need lots of time outside for a variety of reasons. Playing outside sparks imagination, improves motor skills and balance, provides a setting to learn about the natural world, boosts Vitamin D and promotes a healthy lifestyle that decreases obesity.

Your Challenge:  Get your kids outside EVERY day next week to play. This includes walking to school or stopping at the playground when you walk the dog. We say any kind of time outside to explore counts.

Then what?  Tell us your stories, send us your pictures and log your hours.
1)    We want to hear the stories about playing outside from all 50 states. We want to see all ’50 states in play.’ Seems like a good election tie in! Email your stories (or have your kids write the story) about your play days this week. Send to press@polarnopyretusa.com or post to our FB page or post to your FB page and tag us. For all emailed entries, we will enter you each day for a daily prize drawing.
2)    We want to see your kids in play. Email your photos to press@polarnopyretusa.com or post to our FB page or post to your FB page and tag us. For all emailed entries, we will enter you each day for a daily prize drawing.
3)    1,000 hours of play. We want to log 1,000 hours of outside play this week.  Email, post to FB, tweet or tag us each day or every few days with how many hours you spent outside.
4)    Blog. If you are a blogger, please share your experiences of getting your kids outside to play this week. Share with us your photos, stories and hours of outdoor play as well.

Next week, let’s make Every Day a Play Day and together we can bring the play back to life.

I have made no secret of the fact that I think outdoor daily play is SUPER important! We make a habit out of playing outside minimum an hour a day, ideally LOTS more than that but it is getting harder now with Jasper in school and it getting dark earlier, but we still made daily time for outdoor play!

Yesterday it was a bit chilly after school, but we bundled up and went to the park after Jasper had his after school snack. Jasper got to burn off some energy and Tindra and I got some much needed fresh air!
