5 Things

I was tagged by Maria  and of course had to play along!

1. Before getting pregnant with Jasper I was a political science major with the plans of going to law school, but really my dream since I was like 5, was to be a zoo keeper. Every time we go to the zoo, 3-4 times a month, I'm so envious of those workers feeding the animals, even cleaning out their little homes. I think that would seriously be the coolest job ever! (Behind being a stay at home mom, obviously)

2. If it was up to me, and my body and money didn't factor into it at ALL I think I would want like 8 kids. Seriously. BUT since I've already had a c-section and probably will need one for any other births, I don't think that's in the cards! That and Drew isn't really on board with 8. Also, kids activities are expensive! We paid for Jaspers swim lessons and soccer all on the same day last month for the next two months, and just for 30 min of swim lessons a week for two months and 1 hr soccer once a week for 6 weeks it was like $300. Take that times 4-5 seasons a year times several kids..well it adds up! I do want two more though!

3.Fun fact (I think anyway) Drew and I were in a bunch of high school plays together before he convinced me to go out with him senior year. In 2 or 3 of these plays we played 'boyfriend girlfriend' including our last play together, which is when we started dating. But we were cast to play the parts Before we started dating. Fun huh?

4. I've lived in 4 different countries, The US (of course) The Virgin Islands, I guess that technically doesn't count, but I'm counting it anyway because I've never met anyone else (besides my family) that has lived there, Bali and Sweden but have lived in 13 or 14 different homes in my 26, almost 27 years. I absolutely LOVE moving, whether it's across the country, on a different continent or just a couple of miles away. Call me crazy. I think I have instilled that in Jasper as well because a few weeks ago he asked when we were going to move into a new house. Probably since we have been in our current house for 17 months, the longest he has ever lived anywhere in his almost 6 years.

5. I detest 'working out' with a passion. But only if you call it working out. I will gladly go on a LONG long walk, or a hike, or swimming, or a zumba class with a friend, or a long bike ride, but 'working out' I HATE it. And I really really wish I didn't. How does one become one of those people that just LOVES running? Maybe by not sucking at it like I do?

And I tag all of YOU! Let me know if you play along so I can come check out your 5 things!

  4. If you had asked me three months ago if I liked "working out", I would have said HELL NO. However, I started going to the gym on the weekends with the hubby, because I wanted to spend extra time with him, and the next thing you know...I got addicted! At first I did the Elliptical, then mixed in a little jogging, then added in workout videos at home, and now I RUN my butt off 3-4 times a week PLUS Jillian Michaels! I wanted to quit for a hot minute when I started eating more to fuel my body and gaining weight, but I just thought of the long term health goals and the results that would eventually show up, and I was hooked. I hope you can eventually find the drive. No one can find it for you, I know from experience ;)

    1. So you are saying there is hope!! ;) My problem is to go, I have to spend Less time with Drew then I already do since the only time he is home for me to go is nights after the kids go to bed and weekends- family time! I was going two-three times a week for a while, but then got sick and stopped going and just haven't found the motivation to go again. Hopefully soon! Swim suit season is way to close to be slacking!

  5. No, not a fan of working out either. But just like you I love going for a long bike ride or a long walk, I think if you do that regularly, it's just as healthy!

I'm so curious about why you've lived in so many countries, was it your dads job or something?
We've moved around a lot as well, i'm guessing about as much as you have, and that was because of my dads job.
I LOVE moving though, too! I'm getting 'the itch' again :).
But it has been kind of hard sometimes too, having to start all over again every time, and feeling different from my peers.

I recently read 'Third Culture Kids' by David C. Pollock, a book about growing up among different worlds, and it really helped me figure out a lot of the feelings I had about growing up multiculturally.
I bet you'd love it too!

    xo Maria

    1. I totally agree with you! We walk a lot daily, so I think I'm 'healthy' enough. Sure we would nice to have killer abs though! :)

Just like you it was for my dads job! He's a head chef with wanderlust he apparently passed along to me. He would go to a hotel/restaurant, make their restaurant amazing then move along to something new :) Sometimes we moved with him, other times we stayed in Sweden and he would go to work in a different country and be gone for weeks at a time then home a couple of weeks. Especially when he worked international cruise ships- not really the place to raise 5 kids!!

I'll have to look into that book! Sounds super interesting!
