The perfect kind of weekend

I was looking into my old posts and realized this one never got posted! Not sure how. I wrote this a few weeks ago, before going to Sweden. So here it is. A few weeks late.

This weekend couldn't have been better. Started off Saturday morning w/ Jasper letting us sleep in till 8:30!! Bliss.

Then we got ready and headed to the local mall for some shopping, lunch and ICE SKATING! I found two pairs of shoes that I loved- but they didn't have them in my size, so they will be arriving in 5-10 days, can't wait to show you them! They are seriously saweeet.

After shopping we took Jasper ice skating for the first time. He's been begging to go all winter- but I wasn't really up for going when it was 6 degrees like it has been- but Sat. it was high 40's- perfect ice skating weather. The last time I went ice skating was in Sweden on lake Vanern, the largest lake in western europe. It's kinda of scary ( i think) skating on a Real lake- one of my biggest fears is falling through ice, but this ice was several feet deep and the town even brought snow plows on there to clear the snow so we could all skate- so if a thousand lb machine can go on it, I think 130 lb me can.

Jasper seriously Loved it. Even though he fell, over and over. After a while he wanted to go to the edge and just go around the rink holding onto the side- apparently much cooler than holding on to your mother.

After nap time we headed down to Denver for a DU men's basketball game. Drew got tickets through the alumni association. I haven't been to a college game in a long time, so it was lots of fun! We had great seats and jasper did amazing. He loved all the excitement. Plus the elderly couple behind us were in love with him. Except they thought he was a girl. This is our conversation went

'Whats your name little girl?'

'His name is Jasper'

'Jasper? Never heard of that, is that short for Jasmine?---Whaat? Jasmine?
'
Wow, she sure is beautiful'

'Thanks, we think HE is too'

'She's quite the little tomboy isn't she'

'Not a tomboy, just a regular, active BOY'

'Seems like you enjoy basketball, maybe you will be playing for DU's women's team in 15 years'

'Well if HE decides he wants to play basketball he would probably have to play for the MENS team'

They just WEREN'T getting it! So frustrating when people don't even listen! I don't get mad, annoyed, embarassed or any of that if someone thinks he is a girl- but when I correct them 10 times and they STILL don't get it? That's just frustrating.

Sunday was a nice relaxing morning, followed by another trip to Denver for a brazilian. It had been toooo long since I'd had time for one, and I felt like a new woman after. Love them. After that we hit up some thrift stores then went home to organize Jasper's toys.

I got some much needed ME time, followed by dinner at my friends house and watching the golden globes. We made a delicious meal- boulder sausage and peppers sauteed, SOO good, potato soup and cheese cake!

DId you guys do anything exciting this weekend?

Steppin Out Saturday, and day 5

I finally had someone to take a picture of me! And he was slightly confused when I said " hey babe can we go outside so you can take picture of my outfit" he probably thinks I'm super vain or something. Oh wells.

It has Just started snowing when we went out to take the pictures, so Jasper and I were of course trying to catch snowflakes in our mouths.

On Mamma:
Dress: Indiska, bought in Sweden last week. It's a teeny bit short, but I love it anyway.
Lace shirt: Target
Hat:H&M Stockholm, also bought also bought last weekend.
Socks: Target I think?
Boots:Charlotte Rousse

On Jasper
Hat:H&M Stockholm also
Shirt: Gap
Vest:Gap
Jeans:Gap
Shoes:Gap
just now realized Jasper was a walking advertisement for Gap yesterday. Maybe he should be getting paid?

My 'steppin out' wasn't super exited but I did get to go to Whole Foods ALONE- which is always a bonus, and so much easier. After that my friend took me to her job to get a bunch of boxes they aren't using so we can start packing because we will be moving in a month!! I also went to a fabric shop for my best time ever because this friend is going to attempt to teach me how to sew! I'm so excited about this I could almost pee my pants.

Today we will be spending the morning inside sipping hot chocolate because we got about 7 inches of snow last night, and then Drew will shovel us out so we can get to Jasper's Swedish class followed by a super bowl party! Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

It hit me hard all of a sudden

that as of Thursday, my baby is now 3 and a half. THREE AND A HALF. That's almost 4, which is practically 5. And 5? That brings kindergarten. And the start of my baby boy being gone from me all day every day at school. And I lost it. I started crying my eyes out. At the thought of my son starting school.

I thought this whole thing would get easier over time. That as the older he gets I would WANT him to be independent and go to school. I thought I would feel like oh finally, I get some me time. Well so far I sooo don't feel like that. I want him home with me all day every day for the rest of my life. I know I'm being dramatic. But this is my blog. And my baby. And to me, if I just close my eyes he still looks like this.

Some of my favorite pictures of me and my baby boy.

Day 4

This morning we spent the morning playing at the mall Dino's and grocery shopping so I wanted to wear something simple and comfortable.

Tank top: GinaTricot
Jeans: Gap
Cardigan:Forever 21
Shoes:Forever 21
String I decided to die around as a belt: from another dress from GinaTricot

Hopefully this weekend I can actually get some decent pictures- I'll finally have the husband around to take some!

So I think we decided to go with the itty bitty house. The neighborhood is seriously Amazing. Walking to the mall, stores, restaurants, whole foods, farmers market, we can walk Everywhere! We will be able to get rid of one of our cars since Drew will walk to work, we will have so much more time together. We can eat breakfast together most days! That's something we only get to do on weekends now. That time together is worth way more to us than a third bedroom, or bigger living room etc. Now it's time to do lots of research to figure out how to best get all of our stuffed crammed into a small space.

Advice?? And outfit #3

I started off the day with a belt and my hair up, ended up taking the belt off and hair out halfway through the day just cuz I felt like it.

Busy day today of going to the mall (without going into ANY of My stores) Jasper's gymnastics class and then headed to Denver (we currently live in the burbs) to look at a house to rent. More on that later.

Long Shirt/Dress: Indiska, my second favorite store in Sweden.
Tights:Vera Wang
Boots: Charlotte Rousse I think?
Belt:Forever 21

This dress/shirt might be the most comfortable piece of clothing I own!

Okay so now onto the house.

Our lease is the suburbs is up and we are moving either mid march or mid april ( we can decide to renew for a month if we haven't found somewhere we want to live.)

Husband works in one of the nicest/most expensive neighborhoods in Denver. And his commute now is about 40 min. at least one way.

We want to move closer so we can have more time together, less time commuting.

Denver is expensive.

So, option 1.

Decent sized house about 20 min from work. Decent neighborhood. Decent house. Decent yard. Decent schools. Not a Horrible commute.

Option 2.
3 minute walk from work. THREE MINUTE WALK FROM WORK.
Teeeeny house.
But Amazing neighborhood. One of the best, safest in Denver.
Decent sized fenced in back yard (my number one requirement)
But it's small. Like uber small. but hardwood floors? big bonus. Great schools. So what's a girl to do?

Leaning towards the itty bitty house in the great neighborhood. Way more time with the hubby. Great school. But if we get that- I'm gonna need some major suggestions on how to deal with small houses, with storage, organization etc. so bring it on mamma's with small houses!!

Beautiful, Snowy Ljusdal

Some picture of Ljusdal, Sweden where I just got back from spending 9 days. Ya know, just so my blog doesn't turn into a blog with just me posting a bunch of pictures of myself (Not that there's anything wrong with those blogs- they are some of my favorites!)  (Longest run on sentence ever?)

Why yes I am standing on a block of ice in my uncle's back yard taking pictures

Day 2.

When I woke up this morning my first thoughts were "Oo what should I wear today?"That almost never happens until I go in my closet or have something big going on (trip to Whole Foods doesn't count)

I doubt my excitement will last when Im trying to come up with outfit number 20, but so far I'm excited!

I decided to keep it simple and comfy today, plus I Really wanted to wear my new shirt from GinaTricot (Sweden)

Some randoms going through my head..
This shirt kind of looks like it could be a maternity shirt- maybe one day in the near future it can be used as one!

This isn't  a color I have much of, kind of a pale brownish/tan but when I saw it in the store it Screamed PICK ME, except in Swedish of course.

I love the crochet detail at the bottom of the shirt.

Something about this shirt made me want wavy hair today.

It's also a No make up kinda day here- just some moisturizer. Kind of my go to look make up wise.

Shirt- GinaTricot, purchased in Sweden last weekend.
Jeans- also bought in Sweden but two years ago, but I can't remember the name of the store.
Shoes - okay i kind of cheated. I decided these shoes were a Must in my 30 so I switched out a long shirt that I was going to have in it. These were more important. Pale pink converse. I just love the look of skinny jeans and a pair of converse.
