11 Months.

Just had to share some (okay a bunch) of the pictures from Tindra's 11 month birthday shoot I did. I think I got some good ones in the 7 minutes she cooperated! One of her favorite things to do is stand at our big front window and just look out the window. I just can't believe this little girl is a year. I keep asking myself over and over again, where has this past year gone?

The most special kind of date.

When I was pregnant with T, I vowed to myself to make as much one on one time with him as possible before And after she arrived. I said I wouldn't let becoming a mother of two change my relationship with number one. We were going to have biweekly, or at the very Least monthly Jasper/mamma dates.

Yeah that has Not happened. And I feel pretty horrible about it. It's hard to get away from a nursing baby! The only times I have been away from Tindra in the past month is at night after she is asleep. Maybe once or twice during a quick morning nap. But until recently, her first naps were at 8:30 AM, a little early to have a mom and jasper date on the weekends when Drew is home.

So the dates, haven't happened. I try to make special mamma/jasper time daily, but with him in school from 8:30-3:30 even that is hard! We do make sure to play a quick game and read books together in bed every night. But with Jasper on spring break this week I was determined to have some much needed US time.

I told Jasper on Sunday that on Tuesday we would be going on a date just the two of us and he said "But what about Tindra? We will miss her!" Sweet boy always thinking about his sister. But then later I heard him explaining to her "You see T, before you came out of mamma's belly we used to go all the time just us, so it's okay for you to stay here with dad. He will take care of you, promise" so I think he was pretty excited to go also!

When it was nice to get ready for our date Jasper told me I wasn't allowed to see what he was wearing..He came out with a flannel shirt and a tie. He looked ridiculously adorable and I didn't have the heart to tell him it didn't really 'go'. He told me to go put on a black dress and shoes that make me tall. Bossy date huh?

I promise you I am Not wearing lipstick but clear carmex, those are just some Really chapped lips

We had such an amazing time, going for an ice cream cone at our favorite place, and then to see the new Wizard of Oz movie (great movie by the way, we both loved it!) And as I was tucking him in to bed last night, he tiredly whispered "Your the best" No You are the best little man. You are The best.

Apparently 'cleansing' makes me a grouch

Just ask my husband and kiddos.

On Friday morning I decided, literally that morning, that I was going to do a cleanse. I've been thinking/talking about doing one since I was pregnant, but decided for some reason, this was the time. Don't ask me why I thought the day Drew was leaving me alone with the kids to go on an ice fishing trip was a good day to start. Or the day before we got snowed in at the house for 30 straight house. Because looking back, Friday was a really shitty day to start a cleanse. But regardless, I did.

I'm doing the 'cabbage soup diet' which I'm not sure why it's called diet since it says it's a 7 day cleanse.  But obviously I didn't name it.

I knew going in I wasn't going to do a full 7 days, towards the end you are eating a lot of beef and tomatoes (one day) and I don't eat a whole lot of red meat (like Maybe once a month) but I wasn't even sure I was going to last one day. I was thinking Maybe three days tops. And here we are, starting day 4.

Here's how it's going so far.

I'm allowing some cheats so maybe it's not a True cleanse, but I'm also breastfeeding still, so I think some cheats are necessary. Or maybe I'm just lazy and weak. Probably, at least to the weak part.

Day 1. Supposed to eat as much fruit as you want (except NO bananas) and the cabbage soup. I made a huge batch on Friday and am no where near being done with it. It's edible, but not delicious by any means.
Had black berries, watermelon, cantaloupe, a banana, two bowls of soups with Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, drank water, coffee,  and un sweetened tea.

Coffee is my 'big' cheat. I drink international delight vanilla coffee, which is maybe at best like 70% coffee and a Whole lot of calories and sugar Like 400-500 calories worth of coffee. But without it I don't think, scratch that, there's no WAY I would have made it through even day one.

Day 2. Supposed to eat all the raw or cooked veggies I want, plus the soup. Plus a big baked potato at the end of the day WITH butter. Hallelujah.

Had fried potatoes with butter and seasonings, huge carrots w two tiny tablespoons of hummus, baked potato with butter and baked zucchini, and coffee. Pretty sure I wasn't supposed to have friend potatoes (fingerling potatoes) but hey it's a vegetable so there.
I ended up Not having the soup. Just didn't sound good. For some reason I felt pretty nauseous after eating the baked potato. Almost couldn't finish it. And you better believe I bought The biggest potato to bake you have ever seen. Obviously.

Day. 3. Man I was a grump yesterday. Like pretty much all day :/ Apparently I need processed crap in my body!
Supposed to eat all the fruits and veggies I want, minus bananas or baked potatoes, Plus the soup.

Ate, Fried potatoes with some butter and seasonings, coffee, 1 bowl of soup ,naked juice (twice) three cuties, baked zucchini and sugar snap peas (baked in butter and garlic powder) Hardest day so far for some reason.

Weakest moment of the day? Licking the spatula that I used to take Jasper and Tindra's pizza out of the oven. Nope don't regret that one bit. At least I didn't have any pizza!

Today I think will be harder. It's day 4 and I'm supposed to eat up to 8 bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk I want, plus the soup. We shall see how that goes.

*update, it's now 4 PM and I've made it through the first part of the day with just bananas (with some almond butter) and coffee. And we were at the pool for almost 4 hours with a whole bunch of cookies and snacks for the kiddos. I stayed strong! But damn I wanted a whole handful of cheetos. And my friends choc. chip cookies. BUT nope just ate my banana and sipped my coffee. *

IF, thats a big IF, I make it through today and decide to continue on to day 5, I'm supposed to eat up to 20 oz of beef and 5 fresh tomatoes and the soup. That might be fine for like a lunch or dinner, but come on, beef for breakfast? Gross. Maybe I'll improvise and eat some fruit or fried potatoes for breakfast. But whoa getting WAY ahead of myself here. Let's see if I can even make it through banana and milk day. I should probably mention that I don't like milk. So, there's that.

5 Things

I was tagged by Maria  and of course had to play along!

1. Before getting pregnant with Jasper I was a political science major with the plans of going to law school, but really my dream since I was like 5, was to be a zoo keeper. Every time we go to the zoo, 3-4 times a month, I'm so envious of those workers feeding the animals, even cleaning out their little homes. I think that would seriously be the coolest job ever! (Behind being a stay at home mom, obviously)

2. If it was up to me, and my body and money didn't factor into it at ALL I think I would want like 8 kids. Seriously. BUT since I've already had a c-section and probably will need one for any other births, I don't think that's in the cards! That and Drew isn't really on board with 8. Also, kids activities are expensive! We paid for Jaspers swim lessons and soccer all on the same day last month for the next two months, and just for 30 min of swim lessons a week for two months and 1 hr soccer once a week for 6 weeks it was like $300. Take that times 4-5 seasons a year times several kids..well it adds up! I do want two more though!

3.Fun fact (I think anyway) Drew and I were in a bunch of high school plays together before he convinced me to go out with him senior year. In 2 or 3 of these plays we played 'boyfriend girlfriend' including our last play together, which is when we started dating. But we were cast to play the parts Before we started dating. Fun huh?

4. I've lived in 4 different countries, The US (of course) The Virgin Islands, I guess that technically doesn't count, but I'm counting it anyway because I've never met anyone else (besides my family) that has lived there, Bali and Sweden but have lived in 13 or 14 different homes in my 26, almost 27 years. I absolutely LOVE moving, whether it's across the country, on a different continent or just a couple of miles away. Call me crazy. I think I have instilled that in Jasper as well because a few weeks ago he asked when we were going to move into a new house. Probably since we have been in our current house for 17 months, the longest he has ever lived anywhere in his almost 6 years.

5. I detest 'working out' with a passion. But only if you call it working out. I will gladly go on a LONG long walk, or a hike, or swimming, or a zumba class with a friend, or a long bike ride, but 'working out' I HATE it. And I really really wish I didn't. How does one become one of those people that just LOVES running? Maybe by not sucking at it like I do?

And I tag all of YOU! Let me know if you play along so I can come check out your 5 things!

I'm sure by now most of you guys have heard about the whole google reader drama going away and everyone switching to Bloglovin, so looks like we are jumping on that band wagon as well.

To follow along, just click on that handy dandy little button below!

Speaking of band wagons I'm jumping on, I've seen this 30 day squat challenge floating around if you want to join in! Moral support and all that. So far I've completed 3 days and tonight I had Drew feel my legs for squishiness and told him to remember how they feel because he will be inspecting them in a few weeks to compare. Which apparently he thinks is sort of dangerous territory or something.

And because no blog post is complete without a picture of a cute kid, here's a few pictures of my soon to be 11 month old (what?? how is this possible?) waiting for her brother to get out of school.

Saturday.

Random jumbled thoughts on our Saturday downtown.

We rushed to get to the light rail on time. Made it with Maybe 2 minutes to spare. And then we remembered the machine only takes cash, and we had exactly $6 between the two of us. So we had to go get cash. And coffee.

Cash and coffee in hand we made it onto the light rail to take it downtown for the Saint Patricks day parade.

We made it just in time for Jasper to see the start of the parade from the top of his dads shoulders while I stood back a little with Tindra. I'm Not a huge fan of people crowding me. And when these people are drunk and loud? No thanks.

You guys, St Patty's day brings out the crazies. At least in Denver.

Luckily, Drew's friend was working security for the VIP area, right in front of coors field and he had a couple of tickets to get us in! Now THIS is the way to watch a parade.

Front row seats.
Actual seats!
Free food! The Mongolian chicken and rice were superb. As was the BBQ chicken.
Free beer! (Not for me, not a beer drinker)
And best of all, bathrooms!!

Tindra finally fell asleep in the mai tai, and of course it was Right before we got to the VIP bathrooms, and I wasn't going to try to use a portapotty with a baby strapped to my chest. No way. So. That was a painful hour.

I ended up talking to a mom who apparently lives exactly 1 block from us! Denver can feel like a small town sometimes though it's definitely not.

After we got back and everyone had napped we headed out for a greasy burger, fries and a mouth watering mint shake. Pretty fantastic saturday!

Tindra got to try a couple of sips of the shake, and it's safe to say, she was a huge fan.

Oh and during nap time Drew ran to the P.O box, AND stopped and picked me up this beauty I have been eyeing for the last two weeks. I love her. I think I will call her Sunshine.

Now, does anyone have any baby bike seat recommendations? I don't want a bike trailer, but an actual seat. Anyone, anyone?

Blueberry kale smoothie

We consume a lot of smoothies in this house and this is one of my favorites! A handful of kale Two (ish) cups of coconut milk. One banana. About 1.5 cups of frozen blueberries. A few strawberries. Throw it all the blender and you have a delicious, healthy breakfast!

I was such a grouch tonight. Snapped at Jasper. Snapped at Drew. I was just off. I knew I needed some fresh air to recharge to make it through bed time with no more melt downs. So we bundled up for a little walk after dinner. It was short, just 15 minutes, but the cold fresh Colorado night air was just what we, mostly me, needed. Tindra babbled and Jasper skipped. And I came back a much calmer, happier mamma.
